Islands Development Agency (IDA) was setup by the Central
government to develop islands in the regions Andamans,Lakshadweep islands for
tourism and eco maritime economy and security concerns. The IDA was setup in
June 1st,2017 after Prime minister review on the islands development.
After the first meeting of IDA ten islands are notified for development Smith,
Ross, Aves, Long and Little Andaman in Andaman & Nicobar and Minicoy,
Bangaram, Suheli, Cherium and Tinnakara in Lakshadweep.

-Home minister act as chairman to IDA
- Cabinet Secretary, Home Secretary, Secretary (Environment,
Forests and Climate Change), Secretary (Tourism) and Secretary (Tribal Welfare)
act as members to IDA.
