Mission Indradhanush Means it is immunization vaccine for
seven vaccine preventable diseases among children to achieve by 2020.Under Mission
Indradhanush project these diseases were identified diphtheria, whooping cough,
tetanus, polio, tuberculosis, measles and hepatitis B. Partially immunized and
unimmunized children are most susceptible to childhood diseases and are at a
much higher risk of dying as compared to fully immunized children. Every year
nearly 5 lakh children die to lack of immunization.
Mission Indradhanush Goals
-Ensure full immunization with all available vaccines for
children up to two years and pregnant women.
-The Mission has been launched to accelerate the process of
immunization and achieve full immunization coverage for all children in the
country.
-The programme launched by Central Minister on the occasion of
birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Shri Madan Mohan Malaviya and birthday of
Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
-The focused and systematic immunization drive will be
through a “catch-up” campaign mode where the aim is to cover all the children
who have been left out or missed out for immunization. Under Mission
Indradhanush, special vaccination campaigns will be conducted with intensive
planning and monitoring of these campaigns. The learning’s from the successful
implementation of the polio programme will be applied in planning and
implementation of the mission.
