Formation of States in India


In 1960 Maharashtra and Gujarath states are formed by the linguistic manner from the Bombay state.The Gujarathi speaking areas are confined in the Gujarath state and marati speaking areas confined in the Maharashtra state.

In 1962 Nagaland state is formed from the Assam including tseuang district of Assam,the law and order of this district held with governor, no state bills and acts of Nagaland assembly cannot be applied to this district after consulting governor or president .

In 1966 Punjab and Haryana states are formed in bilingual manner , the punjabi speaking areas are confined to Punjab and hindi speaking areas confined to Haryana.The division of states results in formation of Himachal pradesh as union territory.

In 1972 Manipur,Tripura,Meghalaya and Himachal pradesh states are formed from the NEFA(northeastern frontier agency).

In 1987 Arunachal pradesh (China called south Tibet ), Mizoram and Goa states are formed , they are treated as joint cadre in civil services along with union territories.

In 1999 Jarkhand, Chattisgarh, Uttarakhand are formed from the states of  Bihar, Madhyapradesh, Uttarpradesh.

In 2014 the Telangana state is formed from the Joint Andhra pradesh.
